People suffering from Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) are encouraged to find ways in relieving the effects of their vertigo. Aside from specific maneuvers that you need to undergo, some of the most common home remedies that can help alleviate the dizziness caused by BPPV include the following:

  • Use good lighting when you need to get up at night.
  • When walking, use a cane for greater stability.
  • Ginkgo biloba has been discovered to be an effective cure for vertigo. Take 240 milligrams daily to achieve more balance and lessen your vertigo symptoms.

Patients with Meniere’s Disease are exposed to the fact that no cure exists for the illness, but several treatment options can reduce its severity as well as the frequency of vertigo episodes. Experts recommend making lifestyle changes to reduce the impact of the disease:

  • Avoid driving a car.
  • Stay clear from doing work that involves heavy machinery.
  • Limit your salt intake. This will prevent or minimize fluid retention. The daily recommended amount is 1,500 to 2,000 milligrams, and this should be distributed throughout the day.
  • Detach yourself from stress-inducing conditions.
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine. Studies show that people who restrict themselves from drinking caffeine have fewer Meniere’s disease spells as compared to those who do not put a limit to their intake.
  • Address your allergies by identifying and avoiding the allergen itself or by engaging in immunotherapy.
  • Aside from ginkgo biloba, there is evidence suggesting that pycnogenol, a natural extract from French maritime pine bark, may help control the symptoms of Meniere’s disease.

Achieving inner ear balance may be challenging at first, but with proper diet and observance of the above tips, you are on your way to overcoming the physical and emotional effects caused by ear infections and vertigo. Note that these home remedies are just an additional option. It is still best to talk to an ENT specialist or an audiologist so proper diagnosis can be made.
